Zachary Sullivan, SJBA Class of 2021, grew up in Duluth, Georgia, and is a parishioner at The Catholic Church of St. Monica. He is the youngest of five and attended St. John Bosco Academy from second grade, where he enjoyed excelling in academics, music, performing arts, and leading the soccer team to a state championship title. After graduating from St. John Bosco Academy, Zachary attended the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he continued to study and discern a vocation to the priesthood. Zachary is currently in his 3rd year of seminary with the Archdiocese of Atlanta and is studying in St Joseph Seminary College in St. Benedict, Louisiana.
What Zachary looks forward to most if he becomes a priest is celebrating the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. He states, “There is no event more powerful than Jesus’s sacrifice on Calvary, which God re-presents through the priest’s sacrifice on the altar. Through this sacrifice, God then bestows an abundance of grace on His people through His priest. For me, this would be such an incredible privilege to know that God chose me to be the mediator between Him and His people through the Mass. I also look forward to this in the sacrament of confession where I can be with people in their most vulnerable times to allow God to work through me and grant them forgiveness and consolation.”
“My time at St. John Bosco was very formative for me. The ability to develop good and holy friendships and be in a community that helped me grow in my faith while still staying close to my family, who is the primary source of formation, was such an incredible blessing and extremely influential in my life.”
