The family is the first and vital cell of society. The future of the world and of the Church, therefore, passes by way of the family.” – St. John Paul II

Nicholas Bowring ‘2016

Nicholas Bowring, SJBA Class of 2016, is the fourth of eight siblings and had moved around the U.S. frequently until attending St. John Bosco Academy his freshman year with the school’s very first “pioneering” high school class. Nicholas’ SJBA experience included being part of the school’s cross-country team and participating in the performing arts as Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof and Gaston in Beauty and the Beast. After graduating high school, he attended college at Mercer University and then the University of North Georgia. While he was studying at UNG, Nicholas returned to SJBA to work as a Building Manager and Chemistry TA. This time, he was witness to how SJBA upholds its principles and faith-oriented atmosphere from the administration side. His college career eventually brought him to the University of Georgia, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Computer Systems Engineering with a minor in Japanese. Nicholas now works as a robotics engineer for MP Equipment on their industrial food processing waterjet machines.

Nicholas believes his love of knowledge and his lifelong efforts to discern God’s will for his life stems from his participation in the community that SJBA cultivates. He states, “The study of chemistry gives us a glimpse into how perfectly God made the world on a molecular level, and it inspires me how St. John Bosco Academy fosters this type of philosophy in their entire academic approach. Its environment which promotes the Catholic Faith in every moment of our lives is effectively built on the fast-paced workflow of the hybrid classroom model. I am forever grateful for my experience at SJBA because it prepared me for the rigor and independence of college-level study and instilled the discipline and Socratic mindset that has been the key to my success in my research throughout my professional career.”
